This Classroom Wishlist is for South Fremont Junior High in St. Anthony! You can help Junior High English teacher Rachel Thomsen, get 8 VR Headsets for her students to travel the globe, experience the past, and learn about the universe...without ever leaving their classroom!
Ms. Thomsen says, "With a VR kit from STEMfinity, I could take my students all around the world without leaving my classroom. We could tour the Mary Rose to get a feel for Jim Hawkins' travels in Treasure Island. We can visit manor houses and English gardens to understand what Mary Lennox sees in The Secret Garden. We can see American War Memorials when we write Patriot's Pen essays. We can visit college campuses and do some virtual job shadowing for the Careers Unit. We can tour Civil War battlefields when we read Rifles or Watie. My students and I would be able to work in "centers"...rotating through a turn in virtual reality, then turning what they see into independent work/application to assignments."
Every donation of 30 points will buy one piece of equipment for a VR Kit. Thank you so much to our players for helping us fund this wish.
About Classroom Wishlists:
In 2018, the Idaho Lottery started collecting "Classroom Wishlists" from Idaho teachers as another way to support our mission to benefit Idaho Public Schools and the Permanent Building Fund. Since that time, with the help of donations from our VIP Club members, we have donated more than $26,000 to Idaho classrooms.
Your point donations have funded a classroom kitchen at Park Ridge Elementary, new water fountains at Juliaetta Elementary, new basketball hoops at Mullen Trail Elementary and so much more. Earlier this year, point donations from the VIP Club also raised $40,000 for Idaho elementary school libraries through the Bucks For Books program.
Thank you so much for your generosity!
